Box office Amerika utara dikuasai “primata” pada akhir pekan lalu. Debut Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes menguasai box office dan membuatnya melengserkan The Fall Guy yang berada di puncak pekan sebelumnya. Pada pekan debut, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes mengumpulkan US$56 juta. Variety pada Minggu (12/5) memberitakan angka itu sedikit melebihi perkiraan, yakni US$50 juta hingga US$55 juta.
Angka tersebut juga tak jauh dari capaian awal debut film-film sebelumnya dalam waralaba Planet of the Apes, seperti Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (US$72 juta), War of the Planet of the Apes (US$56,2 juta), dan Rise of the Planet of the Apes (US$54,8 juta).
Sama seperti pendahulunya, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes diperkirakan lebih besar di box office internasional. Film tersebut debut dengan pendapatan US$72,5 juta di internasional. Sehingga, total pendapatan debut global film itu mencapai US$129 juta.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes merupakan film keempat dalam saga Planet of the Apes. Film itu dirilis tujuh tahun setelah War for the Planet of the Apes dan berlatar 300 tahun usai peristiwa film ketiga.
